98mm Dental Titanium Blanks

The industry-standard diameter for Roland DWX, VHF, imes-icore, and open-system CAM mills. Vacuum stress-relieved to prevent post-milling warping.

Diameter Ø98.0mm
Thickness Options 10/12/14mm
Material Grade Grade 5 ELI
Lead Time 3-5 Days
Stress Relief Standard: All 98mm blanks undergo vacuum annealing (600°C / 2hr) to eliminate residual stress before shipping. This prevents kinetic warping when 70%+ material is removed during bridge milling.

02 Why Bridges Warp (And How We Prevent It)

Risk Addressed

Post-Milling Warping / Rocking Fit

Standard as-rolled 98mm discs retain internal residual stress from manufacturing. When 70%+ material is removed during milling, this stress releases as kinetic warping. ValidTi 98mm discs undergo vacuum stress relief annealing (600°C / 2 hours) to eliminate residual stress BEFORE shipping, ensuring your bridge fits passively on first try.

The Physics

Cold-rolled titanium discs are like a coiled spring under tension. The metal's crystal lattice is compressed during rolling. When you mill away 70% of the disc (typical for a full-arch bridge), you're removing the "lid" that was containing this internal energy. The remaining metal "relaxes" into a new shape—which is NOT your CAD design.

ValidTi Solution: Vacuum annealing "unwinds" this internal energy BEFORE you mill.

03 ValidTi vs. Generic 98mm Blanks

Parameter Generic "As-Rolled" Ti ValidTi Annealed
Thermal History Cold Worked (High Stress) Vacuum Stress Relieved
Post-Mill Distortion High (>50 microns) Negligible (<10 microns)
Long-Span Stability Unpredictable Dimensional Certainty
Full-Arch Bridge Fit Requires Trial & Error Passive Fit (First Try)
Certificate Provided MTR Only MTR + Annealing Chart + Flatness Report

05 Thickness Selection Guide

10mm Thickness

Single Crowns / Copings

For single-unit restorations where final thickness is 0.3-0.6mm. Reduces milling time and material waste.

  • Anterior crowns
  • Screw-retained copings
  • Abutment bases
12mm Thickness

3-6 Unit Bridges

For medium-span bridges with cross-sectional height requirement ≤10mm. Most common thickness for implant bars.

  • Posterior bridges (3-4 units)
  • Implant bars (4-6 implants)
  • Hybrid prosthesis frameworks
14mm Thickness

Full-Arch / All-on-X

For full-arch restorations requiring maximum vertical height (10-12mm final). Heavy-duty frameworks for Toronto bridges.

  • All-on-4 / All-on-6
  • Full-arch screw-retained
  • Removable bar overdentures

06 Verify The Thermal Cycle

Every 98mm blank shipment includes three verification documents to prove stress relief annealing was performed:

Annealing Temperature Chart

Time-temperature curve from furnace datalogger showing 600°C hold for 2 hours, with batch-specific lot number.

Flatness Tolerance Report

Post-annealing flatness verification (≤0.10mm deviation) measured at 5 points across disc surface.

Material Test Report (MTR)

Third-party chemical composition and mechanical properties per ASTM F136. Heat number traceable to mill certificate.
